Legislative Advocacy

Our OSMA Alliance members currently sit on the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) Legislative Taskforce Committee to support or not support legislation at the Ohio Statehouse. OSMA, as well as the AMA, both have a legislative committee of physicians and alliance members who are well-versed on the issues.

So when sending a letter to your legislators, feel free to include your medical association legislative committee’s official stance in any communication. And when a hot topic comes up concerning health care, and you fire up the computer to write that letter or email, remember to use your resources—such as OSMA, AMA, and AMA Alliance—which can provide current and credible facts to add to your letter. Contact them to receive their documents about health care issues. It is important not to ‘reinvent the wheel’ by collecting information that has already been produced by your state and local associations.
